Found in the Amazon rainforests of South America, the Garden Tree Boa is a beautiful, nonvenomous snake that comes in a variety of bright colors. The skull density and rigid dentition in boas and pythons are just two examples of how each species has retained the same anatomical features associated with primitive snakes. Since both are from tropical jungles, the emerald tree boa and the green tree python require similar quarters and maintenance in captivity. Their eyes and nasal passages are on the top of their heads, allowing them to almost completely submerge themselves in the water to wait for prey and approach their hideaways. In such a case, a boa would be more defensive than a python. ![]() An interesting characteristic of boas is that they are born as offspring, as the eggs are incubated inside mother, and hatchlings come out of the body when it is time.
